People
All peopleThe Seer
Aria
She sees the strike before it lands and the meeting before it is called. Guidance is her gift. The cost of looking is not yet a matter of public record.
supporting
Elder Thom
An elder of Thornhaven who would rather name a raving hunter's tale fever than look north and name what is actually coming.
The Warrior
Kael
Best hunter in Thornhaven. Bronze spear, restless sleep, and hands that remember a heavier weapon than any village forge has made.
supporting
Kael the Elder
Thornhaven's bronze-smith. He shares a name with the hunter and spends his mornings hammering plow blades, not swords.
The Healer
Lyssa
Village healer whose gift goes beyond herbs. Dark braid, seeing eyes, and a stubborn refusal to let anyone in her care fall.
The Mage
Mira
Keeper of forgotten fire. In this life her hands still find the old patterns, and her memory of other ages is sharper than the rest.
Places
All placesregion
Northern Forest
The oaks north of Thornhaven. Hunters go in. Lately, not all of them come back, and the one who did spoke of shadows that swallow light.
site
Northern Pass
A high gap beyond the northern forest. The Five meet the corrupted beasts here, and behind the beasts something older gathers.
city
Thornhaven
A bronze-age village of smiths, hunters, and healers. Goats, grain, and the ring of a hammer at dawn. The Five wake here.
region
Thornhaven Valley
A sheltered valley between two rivers, oak on the ridges, good earth in the floor. The kind of place where nothing is supposed to happen.
site
Unnamed Clearing
A gap in the oaks the hunters do not name until they have already walked too far. Hidden on the atlas until you choose to reveal spoilers.

People of Thornhaven
The families of the valley: smiths, hunters, healers, elders. They distrust magic even when it saves them, and they want the north to stay a forest.
cult
The Darkness
The thing that comes from the north each turning. It corrupts beasts first, swallows light, and has outlived every age that thought it finished.
order
The Five
Five souls reborn each turning to face the Darkness: Warrior, Mage, Healer, Shadow, Seer. In this age they wake in Thornhaven.
Kindreds

Humans of the Bronze Age
Mortal people of spear, plow, and bronze. They farm the valley, fear magic, and do not yet have a word for the lives some of them are remembering.
kindred
Shadow-creatures
Beasts the Darkness has touched: wolves with coal-eyes, bears dripping black ichor, birds that blot the sun. They come before the true assault.
