Chapter 1: Among the Stars

The starship Thornhaven—named for a colony world, which was named for an ancient village lost to history—drifted through the void between stars. Captain Kael stood on the bridge and watched the endless dark, feeling a familiar unease.

He had faced darkness before. In dreams, in visions, in memories that couldn’t possibly be real.

But space was different. Space was real darkness, the absence of everything, the void between worlds.

And something was moving in that void.
